It is totally cool to be a wallflower

Flowers in concrete walls

Living paint, flowers on the wall. An awesome way to give the city streets some colour. Scientist based in Barcelona are working on a way to make it possible to grow flowers on concrete walls. Ignacio Segura Perez is one of the supervisors on this project. How it works:

“The team carbonates conventional concrete to make it more receptive to plant growth: by keeping it in a humidity-controlled chamber, they can bring its alkalinity down to a level similar to that of water. A normal concrete layer is overlaid with a waterproofing layer, followed by the biological concrete.”

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya is now developing it even further so that it will be possible to choose in which specific areas  you want to grow your flowers.

It is a lovely way to decorate your house and give some colour to the boring city streets. I think that if they will develop far enough it will even be possible to use plants that can clear the air a bit. After all the city is not the healthiest place to live if we look at air pollution. This probably won’t make big differences, but everything counts and it looks good too!

I’ve been browsing online more than 4 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be much more useful than ever before.
